나이들수록 모르는 것이 많아진다

 

 

I took a walk in the rain in the morningA big tree was faced,

which has only a drunk to be cut branches and stems off almost

  and is wetting with rain.

The large rock also was holding up fine without a word of complaint

even being trampled down by a lot of people in the rain.

Because of getting overridden very much,

 the rock was polished and so much slippery.

When I hear a little sound of what I do not want to hear,

I feel angry.

I look rather shabby like such a man.

What is living? What is happiness,

that is what you want to be so happy?

What is death, that is whoever is born is about to undergo once?

Nothing on earth to know.

What is the reason,

a lot of things I do not know are increased in getting older?

Why am I felt to know very a trace thing as much as the dust of the universe?

What is the reason why not knowing is getting a lot more,

knowing is getting less?

Today I was speechless in front of the rock with silence

and smile over tens of thousands of years.

Does the rock also keep silent

because it does not know? or to say,

 do not we understand what it says?

Then walking in the rain in the morning,

I saw the big tree and the large rock,

and wrote down my feeling.

 

아침에 빗 속을 산책을 했다.
아름드리 거목이 팔 다리가 잘린 채 비를 맞고 있었다.
사람들이 하도 많이 밟고 다녀 반질거리는 큰 바위가 비를 맞아 미끄러웠다.
그 바위는 불평 한 마디 하지 않고 괜찮다며 견디고 있었다.
나는 조금만 누가 듣기 싫은 소리를 해도 기분이 나쁘고 화가 나는 데
조금 내 자신이 초라해졌다.
그리고 산다는 것은 무엇이며 그렇게 다들 원하는 행복은 무엇이란 말인가?
태어난 인간 누구나 한 번 쯤 겪어야 할 죽음은 또 무엇이란 말인가?
도대체 아는 것이 하나도 없다.
살아 나이가 들수록 모르는 것이 많아지는 까닭은 무엇인가
...알고 있는 것은 우주의 먼지만큼도 안 되게 느껴지는 까닭은 무엇인가?
모르는 것은 많아지고 아는 것은 적어지는 이유는 무엇인가?
오늘도 나는 몇 만년을 침묵하며 미소 띈 모습을 한 바위 앞에서
말을 잃었다.
바위도 몰라서 침묵할까 아니면 말을 하는 데도 우리와 다른 말을 해서
우리가 알아듣지 못하는 것일까?
아침에 빗 속 산책을 하다가
새 순 몇개 둥지에 키운 채 덩그란히 서 있는거목과
짓밟히면서도 흔들림 없이 불평 한 마디 하지 않고
엎드려 있는 큰 바위를 지나다 적어본 것이다.
