응접실과 낡은 선풍기(A living room and an old electric fan)

서울 서교동에 있는 최규하 전 대통령집을 구경했다.

집은 반지하 지상 2층의 보통 집이었다.

집을 돌아보고 느낀 것은 어려운 사람을 이해하고 검소한 삶을 살았다는 것이다.

광부의 노고를 잊지 않기위해서 연탄을 평생사용하겠다는 약속을 지키기위해

서거할 때까지 연탄보일러를 사용했다.

응접실의 낡은 선풍기와 작은 방의 손떼묻은 재봉틀 들이 눈길을 사로잡았다.

그렇다. 외교부장관, 국무총리를 하고, 비록 짧은 기간이지만 대통령까지 했지만

삶은 보통사람들과 같은 소박한 삶이었다.

존경스러웠다.

한가지 아쉬운 점은 역사의 진실을 밝히지 않은 점이다.

I visited the house of former president choi Kyu-Hah at  Seogyo-Dong in Seoul.

The house was ordinary with semi underground and two stories.
I felt after looking over the house that he understood the struggled person and lived a frugal life.

To keep the promise that he will use  briquettes during lifetime in order not to forget the hard work of miners,

he used the briquette boilers until the death.
The old electric fan at a living room and  the old sewing machine in the small room caught my eyes.
Yes. He was  Minister of Foreign Ministry, and the Prime Ministe. Even though a short period of time,

he was President of Korea. But his life was simple and frugal like the ordinary people.
I am proud of him. 
But he did not say the facts of what had happend during his presidency. That is missing.
